Senator Campsen Email |
|
There are 46 Senate Districts in South Carolina. Senator Campsen's constituents are located in District 43 (Beaufort, Charleston & Colleton Counties). Since Senator Campsen is on the Judiciary Committee, he is a primary contact to move the ERA resolution forward. If he is not your senator (and you are not his constituent), minor modifications can be made to the copy below to send to your own.
Use our Find your Legislator tool to confirm your senator. Check their ERA Status to see if they have signed on as a sponsor.
It's also very important to send a copy of the email to the legislator's assistant. They can be found by calling the legislators office and simply asking for the contact information for their assistant. The letter below not only has Senator Campsen's assistant, but also includes some key senators and their assistants to let them know your support of the ERA. And please, add equalmeansera@gmail.com to keep us in the loop.
Email copy is below. Don't worry about repetition. Repeated messaging hopefully sinks in. Edit as you like (you might want to make it personal by mentioning daughters/granddaughters...), but feel free to just copy and paste as well.

This joint resolution responds to federal guidelines for a Constitutional Amendment: The Equal Rights Amendment. It is 24 words that cannot be changed, no money needs allocation, and Governor McMaster's signature is not needed. Equal rights for women must be written securely in the United States Constitution and South Carolina should stand on the right side of history through state ratification of the ERA. Senators Bright-Matthews and Senn have given us that opportunity. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, you are particularly important. As an attorney, you understand the profound significance of recognizing equality for women in the Constitution. Please take 2 minutes to listen to a YouTube of Senator Tom Davis' testimony at the March 2020 Senate subcommittee hearing explaining why we need the ERA. He makes our case. Also please read a letter from the American Bar Association requesting South Carolina's ratification. I would like to know if you plan to support S 262. If not, please tell me why. Be sure to add your name, street address and city. |
And now that you have a great letter, consider pasting it into your word processing software and mailing a hard copy. The mailing address for all SC Senate members is PO Box 142 Columbia SC 29202.
