Ninety-four percent of adults believe in equal rights, and 80% of Americans think the Constitution already guarantees them. It does not. We need to take every opportunity to educate our family, friends and neighbors about the ERA and the importance its ratification could have in our lives; not only to those of us currently on the planet, but all generations to come.
Your community offers so many opportunities: your kids school, your workplace, your place of worship, associations and groups you belong to. Your bookclub could assign Equal Means Equal and every member could present a chapter (click here for other book suggestions). Your son could educate his classmates (and earn some extra credit!) by making a presentation at school about why his little sister should have the same rights under law that he has. Your place of worship or employer could write an endorsements or resolutions as to why they support the ERA — not only because it's morally right — but because it's economically sound.
Let us know what you're doing and how we can help (the links above can get you started). And send us a copy of your success and we'll post it for others to see.
Be creative, speak from your heart, make some noise. As Margaret Mead once said ...

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world;
indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. ”
